I love the reaction I get when I'm out the world with my embroidery. It never fails, for example, that while waiting for a doctor's appointment, an older lady will walk past me, do a double-take, and circle back around to talk to me about what I'm working on. They say "You just don't see people embroidering anymore." I smile and nod and tell them about the resurgence of stitchy-minded gals. They tell me "My mom used to embroider things like that when I was just a little girl". I say that I collect, (and am using) vintage patterns, probably the same ones their mothers used. And they smile and remember.
I love the sweet nostalgia evoked by the vintage patterns I use. I love that there are so many stitchers out there willing to share their treasured patterns with the Hoop Love group - (thank you, Floresita for cataloguing all of them!) - after all, they're not always easy to come across, not always inexpensive, and they don't clean up and digitize themselves. There's stitchy love being shared out there.
And with that...
I'm super super excited to tell you that I'm going to be one of the new contributors to Feeling Stitchy (the blog that accompanies the Flickr Embroidery Group)!! Starting next Thursday, I will be sharing all sorts of stitchy goodness over there on a semi-regular basis (as often as once a week). I would really like to focus on interviewing other stitchers (Thank you again, Floresita for the opportunity to do so!), as well as highlight other fun and/or unique embroidery tips and tutorials and links and photos and projects and patterns. And If you're willing, I sure could use a little help getting started.
Here's what I need:
volunteers (or suggested names) to be interviewed about stitchy things, as well as other random bits of life; a few questions you'd like to see in the interviews; your thoughts as to whether the interview questions should always remain the same, or change depending on the interviewee (I personally kind of like to see how many different people answer the same question); and then I need to you periodically send me fun stuff/tips/links/photos/projects/patterns to write about over there.
I can't wait to hear your suggestions!
xoxo

Congrats...how fun is that?! Wish I was a stitcher. I'm more of an aspiring stitcher, but until then you can think of me as a *itcher!
Ha!!
Just wanted to be sure it was ok that I borrowed the Pay It Forward logo from your post below. I wasn't able to find your email address. Am I missing something? Most likely!
oh how fun!! I love the idea of reading interviews- I'm with you about the same questions too. I'll try and think of some to email to you this weekend.
I also promise to email you fun things I see :)!
Not sure if you already visit her or not, but I LOVED this weeks embroidery project at doe-c-doe. Very creative.
congrats!
can't wait to see you there :)
Very exciting news...can't wait to see what you cook up!
I like the idea of the same questions to each person, and if I think of any I'll let you know.
{oh & can I just say that I am beside myself by that sweet comment by sarah & jack about my blog...I'm going to go right now & write her a check, I mean an email to thank her!}
I'm trying to get started with embroidery--and it's hard to find resources!! I'd love for there to be info. for beginners--what to get, where to go to get it, patterns to practice, etc. Can't wait!!!!
Congratulations! Your blog is lovely- I have a link on mine to Guzzisue - she does lots of embroidery and has tond of experience - she may be someone up for having questions poked at her!
Best wishes
Claire
Congratulations! I just saw this over on Feeling Stitchy - I'm looking forward to all of the new content that is on its way.
I agree that I like to see different answers to the same questions. Maybe you could do one core group of basic quesions - "what inspired you to start stitching," "what is your favorite thing to stitch," "what do you do while stitching," etc. To keep the interest of people who prefer variety, you could throw in one or two different questions each interview. I love seeing answers to silly questions, like "what animal would you be," and "what is the one item you always forget to pack for a trip."
Yay! Congrats! I'm sure it will be lots of fun. :-)
I too like the idea of the same series of questions for each interview. I think it would be easier for you, and give each potential interviewee a head's up on what questions to expect.
xoxo
