It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. And at my house, that means pink. The pink seems to be seeping into other areas of my life, though, as well:
In a design project I'm working on for two lovely ladies in St. Louis:
And in my Holiday Garland Swap packaging for the super sweet Rachel in Fresno:
..and thank you, Miss Candace for hosting such a fine, (and might I say well-matched- up ?) swap!
Now if only I could somehow sneak this baby into my living room, I'd be all set:
...Although this arrived today, and is making me so giddy that I've almost forgotten about that pink tree:
Oh my goodness, how perfect could this stocking be?!? I luuuuuuuuuuuvvvvv it!

How to Cook a Thanksgiving Turkey

as told by my five year old, Jack:
Get the turkey from the wild and cut his head off. Cut his feet. Cut his tail off. Then cut his beak and feathers. Wash it off in the stream. You put in the stuff. You get a stove and cook it for 10 minutes on super hot! You turn the stove off. Then when it dings you get the turkey off. Put ketchup on it then eat it.
Hope your Thanksgiving is just as...delicious!

Chocolate Bar Cozies (a tutorial)!
I've never met anyone who didn't enjoy a nice chocolate bar. But I needn't tell you that you can't just hand out a single candy bar and call it a Christmas gift. Unless, of course, that chocolatey goodness comes packaged in it's own sweet little chocolate bar cozy!
This is a great way to turn an inexpensive item into a lovely little gift! You will need the following supplies and about twenty minutes to complete this simple project:
- a large-ish chocolate bar, preferably with a foil inner wrapper
- a thrifted wool sweater, washed and dried with utter disregard for the care instructions on its label (felt that bad boy!)
- a few buttons (I like using vintage buttons)
- embroidery floss, needle and scissors.
Instructions:
Simply measure your chocolate bar (sizes will vary), and cut one piece of felted wool large enough to wrap around it front and back, and the length of the bar. (My cut pieces average about 7x7 inches). You want it to be snug - It's a cozy, after all!
Attach your buttons to the upper right hand corner of the cut piece, leaving about 1/2 inch allowance on each side.
Now line up the top and bottom edge of the wool, right sides facing out, and sew a simple blanket stitch along the top, joining the edges.
You shouldn't need to finish the sides at all, because the felted wool won't run - but go ahead and embellish, if you'd like.
Insert chocolate bar (I remove the paper wrapper first). If the cozy is too loose to support the chocolate bar, cut the bottom edge, trim as needed, and blanket stitch it closed again. And that's it!
I keep a stash of these on hand, wrapped up in vintage wrapping paper, for last minute gifts during the holidays. You should, too! But if you haven't the time, or the inclination, to whip up a batch of these beauties, please stop by my etsy shop - I will have a few available there for purchase.

It's beginning to look a lot....
...like Hanukkah??
ummm......not so much. But we celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah here at sweetjessie headquarters. The kids and I were up bright and early yesterday morning working on this, our grandest ever creation:
Now I just need a candy menorah to set in the window of the gingerbread house.

Not to toot my own horn (get it???), but I'll be there, too! If you can make it to the show, please stop on over and say hello!

Bahama Mama

A few things I learned on my trip (and then I promise to return to regularly scheduled crafty programming):
1. Not every other passenger will understand why you're taking pictures out the window of the airplane - no, it was not my first time on a plane. I just blog.
2. Bahamian pina coladas are delicious. And much stronger than the average pina colada. They necessitate a midday nap.
3. Somewhere between nine and eleven pair of shoes seems just right. Until you go over on your baggage allowance.
4. Use the Admirals Club (or its equivalent) whenever possible. I'm serious.
5. If you plan to bring your ipod on a trip, and spend a good amount of time downloading your songs and photos, it's a good idea to also bring the ear buds that allow you to listen to it.
6. Bring magazines, not embroidery for poolside diversions.
7. Jet skiing is an extreme sport when properly executed. Stretch afterwards.
8. Book spa visits in advance.
9. Mesa Grill Mesa Grill Mesa Grill.
10. Know when to walk away; Know when to run (thank you, Willie Nelson).
Such a lovely trip... and so glad to be home!

All Kerfuffled
Thanks so much for all the lovely birthday wishes last week. I'm sorry I didn't thank you sooner. I've been a crazy girl this past week. My car is practically on autopilot to the the kids' school, the post office, the gymnastics studio, and back home to sew. In fact, I have to pop out right now to go volunteer in my son's classroom (I just got home from dropping him off half an hour ago), then to the post office, then back here to sew. Then back to get my son, back home for an hour, off to pick up Olivia, stop by to visit a friend, then to gymnastics. When my husband gets home, we'll eat whatever takeout sounds good, and then I'll go to Melissa's for a night with my crafty bitches. Busy is good, but I'm all kerfuffled.
To that end, I'll probably just be posting pictures for the next week or so, and then I'm off to the Bahamas for a week. I know that sounds amazing, but I'm not one to relax well, so I'm actually a little stressed about it: What can I bring with me to work on poolside?
And then of course, there's all that has to be done in order to leave two kids home with my mother in law for a week (not to mention all the salon services that an upcoming trip to a fancy wedding on the beach requires). Plus, the DIY show will be three days after I get home.
Boo hoo right?
xoxo
