Mad Love... and Good Karma!
Posted by Jessie on 9.15.2007.
It's been a great week over here at Sweet Jessie Headquarters! I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for all the love I've been getting via email, flickr, and the comments section. I've been winning contests like crazy (an extra thanks to Heather for the wonderful vintage trims, and to Erin at Blue Bird Baby for the custom sling she's making for my sister in law!), and I'm seeing lots of new visitors here - so, to you - Welcome!
Beth over at the Sew, Mama, Sew blog sent readers over this way to check out my "good fabric karma"- and I think that's a perfect way to describe it. I've been having so much luck with the vintage fabric finds lately! But what goes around, comes around, and so I think it's time for me to offer some it back into the karma pool - Yep, it's a giveaway!
I've cut up thirteen of my favorite vintage sheets and made a bundle to give away. These are not leftovers, scraps, or pieces I don't want. These are some of my favorites, and they're all good sized pieces!
... And I made two identical piles of fabric to give away!
Then, I decided that wasn't enough, so I pulled out all of these goodies:
... and these, too:
And, when each fabric pile is combined with some vintage patterns and a 'bits and pieces' packet of ephemera, the result will comprise the Sweet Jessie Mad Love/ Good Karma Give Away!
So here's how to play (there's two ways to win):
1.Leave me a comment telling me what you would make with the fabric (or what I should make with mine).
2.Tell your friends about the contest - and tell them to tell me you sent them!
Comments will close Saturday the 22nd at midnight
One winner will be drawn on Sunday, September 23rd, and the person that referred them will win the second prize! The more people you tell, the better your chances of winning!
Isn't karma fun?
xoxo

Glad you liked the vintage trims, be sure to let me know if it really does stand up to boiling! :)
I linked your giveaway on my blog- hope you get great traffic! Drooling over the patterns and epherma...
5:05 PM
That fabric is delicious! I could certainly use that for some bags, clothes for the wee one and many other little projects!! You are so kind to be doing this :)
6:54 PM
I would have my friend make me a purse and share the fabric with her so she can make stuff for herself too. I'd use the rest for cards, collages and different purse typed projects:)
You could make purses too of the fabric and then I can go drool over them in your shop and save money to buy them! I collect purses but use them too:)
The ephemera is really cool. Wish we could find that kind of stuff where I live.
I was sent here by apples on a stick:)
Hope you are having a great weekend!
10:55 PM
I would use them to make some pin cushions and a tote bag. Did you see the new Country Home? It has some of the sweetest pincushion shapes and I am dying to try them out.
I would make some cards with the ephemera. I have been rabid about making cards lately!
And since it is all about karma, I would have to pay some of the crafty forwarded love back to you with one of said pincushions!
10:17 PM
applesonastick.com sent me and if I won, I would probably give it to her- so she could be creative with it for me (and others). LOVE the Fabric!
1:16 AM
Heather at Apples on a Stick sent me -- gosh, at this rate she's going to get some fabric for sure! :)
The 23rd is my birthday! Just sharing (like... with EVERYONE).
Things that come to mind for me to make with this -- an awesome apron (or two), a cute skirt (or part of one), TOYS (I love making toys, and I have some AWESOME ideas for a couple -- particularly a couple that double as "tooth fairy pillows." My daughter has a loose one, you see...).
8:59 AM
Heather (applesonastick) sent me too! What a fun stash of fabrics! I love the colors! I would use the fabrics for pretty quilts, probably in the doll size category, but you never know ... I could also see some fun bags and totes being made out of them too!
10:40 AM
Heather sent me, as well!
I just LOVE those vintage sheets!
I am envisioning them as adorable quilts, which I just haven't been able to stop making lately.
and I swear my mom had those blue floral sheets on our spare room bed when I was little!
ahhhhh....sweet nostalgia. :)
those vintage patterns are also screaming out to me!!!
sign this girl up!

they'll go to good use, i promise!
11:57 AM
Oh, I love giveaways! I need to do a new one soon. Let's see, looking at those fun prints, I'm thinking flouncy skirt for my 4 yr old. I've been telling her she's going to get a flouncy skirt for like a year now...got to get on to that project. Thanks for the fun giveaway! And I'm enjoying your fun creations, too!

As a new Virginia resident just out of college with a whole apartment to my make my own. I am looking for great ways to decorate my walls with photos of family and friends. If I won the fabric, I would make fabric picture frames for my wall. And give my sister, Nicky (who referred me here!! http://niccunha.blogspot.com ), any of the left over fabric to create her aprons and totes/bags that she loves so much.
9:14 PM
I will let all my blog readers know about you and your contest. I'm having a contest right now on my blog. Check it out!
I think I would make....... a phone call to my friend Nicky who does all of our sewing and tell her that I had something very special for her. You know...a pay it forward kind of thing!!! Fun, huh?!
1:08 PM
I almost forgot to enter! :) Yes, please!
10:51 AM
If I won fabric, I would love to make a baby changing station for my friend who is due in december. It will be padded and have pockets to hold dipers and wipes!
11:30 AM
I don't have a blog, but do love to read yours. If I were to win the fabric, I would most likely make myself some sashes, headbands and maybe even a purse. It is all so delightful!

Hi there! I can't believe you are giving away all of that good stuff!
I've been obsessed with making little girl-sized totebags and purses lately (I have a three-year-old and a gaggle of little nieces). These would be the perfect fabrics for them!
8:34 PM
Sondra told me about your giveaway! By the way she has a great blog! Check it out!

ok so I just left a super long response and submitted it and it disappeared, so if I am on twice I appoligize.
It would be great to make shopping cart covers for babies, infant seat covers, and a cool diaper bad that is like a sling pouch!!! (they would all have to be blue for me since I am cursed with the male gene in my family:)
And of sourse you would have to make them for me since I know nothing about sewing.... I would probably sew my own fingers to the fabric:)
Cara
2:23 PM
I had the same problem as Cara, so i hope this doesnt post twice either! If I won the fabric I would use it to help complete the vintage postage stamp quilt I have been working on. I need 13,000 1.75 inch squares, and right now I am only up to around 4,000. (UGHHH I know I know, everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them about it!) Beautiful blog by the way, just stunning!
5:20 PM
Oooh, I'm envisioning some great, patchwork-y handbag with a combination of all of them. What great finds.
9:37 PM
